Supplement Use: Do You Need Supplements to be Well?
Supplement use is at an all time high. In search of good health, about 60% of Americans are investing in supplements. Yet like never before, health problems are skyrocketing. Even very young children don't have vibrant health.
Surprisingly, the #1 reason for bankruptcy in the U.S is health care expenses among people who are covered by insurance.
It's obvious that very few people have vibrant health today. There are many reasons for this. The number one factor is poor diet.
At the height of summer, visit a farmer's market and buy a tomato. Compare that tomato to one bought at your local grocer. There is no comparison! The store bought one is mealy and hard whereas the fresh, locally grown tomato is juicy, sweet and delectable.
As we have become more industrialized so has our food production. This is one case where progress really has not benefited us.
Supplement Use is Necessary Even with a Good Diet
Let's review the evidence that supports this conclusion.
Our soil today is depleted of most minerals. This is due to the fact that industrial fertilizers contain only nitrogen, potassium and phosphorus. Each of these is important and enable plants to grow but are lacking key minerals and trace elements.
Most fruits and vegetables are picked green so they will have a longer shipping and shelf life. It is at peak ripeness that a fruit or veggie has the highest vitamin content. Even organically grown produce may be picked green.
Consider this. You must eat 53 peaches today to meet the RDA for Vitamin A compared to 2 peaches in 1951.
In addition, most people process their food using various heat methods which can further deplete nutrient value as much as 90%. Eating raw fruits and vegetables in their raw state is best.
90% of Americans do not eat the 10-12 servings of fruits and vegetables recommended by the USDA.
Even the American Medical Association now recommends supplements for proper nutrition. And since the AMA is very conservative and slow in making recommendations in this area, TAKE NOTE and be prepared to act on it.
In light of all this evidence, supplement use should be an important part of everyone's whole wellness program.
After years of research, the supplement that I recommend is a
whole food supplement.
