Stinky Tom Says "Even the Best Nutritional Supplements can be Flushed Down the Toilet"

Even the best nutritional supplements may be being flushed down your toilet. Unabsorbed supplements are the #1 cause to backed up septic systems.

There is an easy solution to this nutrient rich sewage. The supplements that end up in the sewer or septic tank are usually synthetic vitamins and supplements.

Even the American Medical Association in 2008, published an article in JAMA on the dangers of synthetic supplements. So how do you know if a supplement is synthetic? If USP (United States Pharmacopeia) appears on the label then it is synthetic. Avoid them like the plague!

Finding the Best Nutritional Supplements

If you want the best nutritional supplements that will be absorbed by your body, and who wouldn't, then these are a few things to look for:

  • Made up of whole food for safe and effective absorption. We are designed to get our nutrition from whole foods. Your body recognizes food and therefore absorbs a high percentage of the nutrients. In whole foods, the ideal combination of nutrients lends to its absorption. Don't be fooled by supplements that taut very high levels of nutrients. Absorption is the key.

  • Standardized, which guarantees that you are getting what the label states. Studies comparing label amounts with actual amounts of various supplements showed wide discrepancies. The levels found ranged from much lower to much higher amounts than what was listed on the label.

  • Follows good manufacturing practices (GMPs) for quality control. This means that a 3rd party tests a product for consistency and validation of the supplement.

There are lots of good nutritional supplements out there! There are definitely products that are better than others. Using the 3 criteria mentioned above, do your research. The label will clearly state if a product is manufactured using these guidelines.
